Welcome to Hyem

Pernille and Richy are best known for their concept-driven interior design work at Lind + Almond, including Hotel Sanders in Copenhagen and The Newman in London.

The bespoke nature of their work led to them becoming accomplished furniture designers, working hand-in-hand with craftspeople and artisans from across Europe. Their inaugural collection, developed for Hotel Sanders in 2017, went on to become modern classics.

In 2025, they launched Hyem, a dedicated furnishings brand designed to showcase their growing collection. Hyem is built on a foundation of exceptional craftsmanship, timeless design, and the idea of ‘Home’.

Hyem

Hyem (pronounced yem) means home in both Pernille’s Danish mother tongue (hjem) and the dialect of Richy’s North East England. It’s said that this shared meaning is a linguistic remnant of the Viking era, a lasting link between their heritage and history.

Hyem’s collection focusses on home-making, something equally important in the cooler climates of Scandinavia and Northern England. Inspired by Pernille and Richy’s heritage and influences, our collection is both timeless and distinctive.

Craftsmanship

Craftsmanship is at our core. Each piece is made to order by skilled artisans in the UK and Europe. Drawing on time-honoured materials such as oak, rattan, marble, and brass, our furniture is designed to be cherished for generations, aging beautifully over time.

Every Hyem piece tells a story. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, each item can be customised in size and finish, offering bespoke options for those seeking something entirely unique.

Sustainability

Our collection is designed to outlast its owner and is crafted with longevity in mind. Every piece is thoughtfully and responsibly made, ensuring it not only endures but improves with age.

Other than our beds which require some light assembly, every piece is delivered fully assembled and ready to use. We believe in buying once and buying well, in investing in quality, timeless design that becomes part of your home’s story for generations to come.
